"Molaghat Ba Dozakhian" is perfectly titled; it conveys its maker's overall message and thoughts on this world, the next world, and human nature through a beautifully arranged 9-track masterpiece recorded at a live performance in Tehran.

Parvaz Homay is a very talented and young musician, and the founder of the Mastan Ensemble – a group of rare and highly proficient Persian musicians. Homay has marked the beginning of a new era in Traditional Persian music, or just "Persian Music" as he likes to refer to it. The Mastan Ensemble makes use of pure Persian instruments such as Santour, Tar, Setar, Daf, and Kamancheh. The overall descriptive and poetic style used throughout Homay’s works are inspired by those of Hafez, Rumi, and Khayam with a simplistic flavor that makes them very well understandable for the general Parsi speaking audience of all age groups.

Homay’s journey at Tehran’s glorious Niavaran Palace begins with the song "Man Az Jahani Degaram" (I come from a different world) conveying his feelings as being unwillingly trapped in an earthly body, asking the “Saaghi” (he who pours wine) to set him free from this world by pouring more “Mey” (wine) into his glass. Homay raises a question; why do we search for the almighty in strange places? If we base our assumption on the fact that Adam and Eve’s souls were really created from that of god’s (according to all religions), then we ‘ought to really search for the almighty within ourselves rather than the churches, mosques, battle fields, and stones. All the answers are truly visible inside our own selves, we just need to open our eyes and see clearly.

The journey continues with an incredible solo Santour performance in “Az Yar Ta Diyar”. In “Begard Ta Begardi”, Homay uses his mordant humor and underlying pessimism, to make the suggestion that if you think god can really be found by circling around a piece of stone (referring to Khaneyeh Kabeh) then go on and keep circling around!

Inspired by poetry from Parvin Etesami, Track 5, “Mohtaseb” (Police Officer) tells the tale of a police officer that runs into a “Mast” (or drunk) and wants to arrest, imprison, and punish him for being drunk. The drunken argues that being drunk is not a crime. The police officer wants to imprison the drunken in the mosque until he can appear before a judge in the morning, the drunken declines saying the mosque is not meant to be a resting place for lawbreakers. The officer asks him to pay him off and set himself free, the drunken declines saying that bribery is unethical. The officer tells the drunken “You are so drunk that you have dropped your hat”, the drunken responds “it’s not a shame not to have a hat on head, instead there needs to be brain in there”.

“Khod Sookhtegan” (self burners) tells the tale of a Dervish who gives the head of his Ghalyaan (hookah) to a disciple asking him to get some fire from Dozakh (hell) to put on there and light his Ghalyaan. The disciple returns after a short time disappointed, saying he searched Dozakh all around but was not able to find any fire or charcoal. The disciple mentions that each person was burning from the fire within, and there was no other fire to be found. Homay emphasizes on the message that if we are to improve anything and do good, then we need to start from ourselves, from within ourselves.

This beautiful album concludes with the song “Molaghat Ba Dozakhian”, written and composed by Parvaz Homay himself. Homay complains about all the things that are perceived to be forbidden in this world. He asks that lots of wine be left next to his grave so that he may make up for all the wine he didn’t get to drink in this world, and drink throughout his journey to Dozakh (hell). Homay would share whatever is left of all the wine with the Dozakhian once he gets there!
