When Jamshid stepped out on the scene many years ago, I thought he would be another mediocre artist who would eventually fade… Harsh I know, but well I can honestly say that I was wrong. I have grown to love this guy…. Jamshid Aaghaa is back with his 4th CD to date, entitled Avalin Negaah. I can easily say that his last two CDs were great, so he had some pretty big shoes to fill. I feel he delivered another sold collection to his repertoire and did so in a rather unique way.

When Jamshid stepped out on the scene many years ago, I thought he would be another mediocre artist who would eventually fade… Harsh I know, but well I can honestly say that I was wrong. I have grown to love this guy…. Jamshid Aaghaa is back with his 4th CD to date, entitled Avalin Negaah. I can easily say that his last two CDs were great, so he had some pretty big shoes to fill. I feel he delivered another sold collection to his repertoire and did so in a rather unique way.

Avalin Negaah is a very nicely done album with an overall theme of romance as seen in his song selection and lyrical usage. Thematically, it goes builds on the concept of love at first sight (hence the play on the CD title: Avalin Negaah [First Glance]).

1. Tanhaatar is the album opener. It starts out very mellow with a semi-Greek inspired instrumental opening and then picks up pace. Not too fast and not to slow in its composition, it is a great way to kick off his album and really showcases his voice.

2. Shehr o Ghazal is a great techno/beat driven song. The song is very uplifting and is very danceable. I loved the electronica embedded throughout the piece, although sometimes I felt his voice was overshadowed by the production values. Very nice musical transitions throughout.

3. Avalin Negaah is very reminiscent of his work from his last two CDs. Another great Radmanesh work… Very cool use of sound effects and backdrops. Very lushly layered and is a great song that is not only the title song of the CD but encompasses the entire theme of the album…

4. Kurdistan is fantastic song! Can’t stress that enough... It is a great uplifting song with very nice instrumental usage in its structure. It is an overall great musical piece that contains very a patriotic meaning in its lyrics.

5. Shak Nakon can easily be Part 2 of his song Shaahkaar from his album Khosh Aamadi. Although the song starts out with a sort of beat-box laid intro, it quickly picks up and maintains a very fast and very addictive rhythm throughout…

6. Sepideh is a great ballad. Very romantic and the music is phenomenal. Production is very cinematic in its approach, and is a great fit to the albums overall theme. This is my favorite slow song on this CD.

7. Tolooeh Eshgh is a very cute and uplifting piece. The song is very ninaay naash sounding in its structure, although on the higher-quality end. Very reminiscent of Moein and Omid’s baa eshveh musical contributions early on in their careers.

8. Dooset Daaram is an awesome track. It is one of my favorites on the album. Yeah, I know, I am kind of a softy when it comes to tracks like this. The song is a great mix of semi-R&B beats and a ballad. The chorus is where it really picks up and the words and meaning are great!

9. Bi To is probably the danciest track on the album… Very great Bandari flare to the piece and I secretly wish more of this style of track was included on this album. I can say this is a true stand out and worth buying and just enjoying. Great production on this song, I truly enjoyed it.

10. Naaz Nakon starts out with a great violin intro and moves on to becoming Tolooeh Eshgh Part 2. Very Baabaa Karam structured in its composition. It’s a great song to dance to or to just kick back and enjoy.

11. Tanek is just WOW! It is my absolute favorite song on his album. I have always been a fan of his Kordi songs and it just goes to prove you don’t need to understand what someone is saying to enjoy music. Music breaks barriers and is a language all its own. The melody and his voice just carry you away. Amazing production. I personally enjoyed that the song changes its musical structure halfway through and sounds a bit Armenian in its melody. Great floor-filler if you are looking for a dance song for your mehmoonies.

12. Paak Sho is another ballad piece, and the closer of the album. It’s a very nicely done piece and kind of makes you begin a retrospective process while listening to it. It is another great ballad from this album.

Overall, I really enjoyed his Avalin Negaah CD. Although it is not as fast paced and wow-factored as some of his earlier work where he was experimenting with different sounds and styles, I can say that he has somehow found his musical niche and is building upon that with this album.

Here’s to Jamshid Jaan’s next great work…

I usually only like his Kurdish songs but his Persian songs are pretty good this time around, especially pak sho.

I love JAMSHID, he is the second best singer in Farci language, after MOEIN, but KING OF POP for KURDISTAN.
