'Half Moon' Grabs Grand Price at Kazakh Festival

Bahman Qobadi's Half Moon has been awarded the grand prix prize at the 4th International Eurasia Film Festival in Almaty, Kazakhstan which ran from September 23 to 29. Iranian actress Leila Hatami was a member of the festival's jury. Half Moon is also currently participating in the "Films from the South" annual festival which takes place in Oslo, Norway, from October 6 to 16.

Starring Iranian superstar Hedyeh Tehrani along with a number of local people, Half Moon is about Mamo, a renowned and admired Kurdish musician who travels to Iraq's Kurdistan along with ten of his sons to perform a concert. Half Moon which is a joint production of Iran, Iraq, Austria, and France was selected to represent the Iraqi cinema in the category of Best Foreign Language Films at the 79th Annual Academy Awards in 2007.
