Eight Iranian Films Being Considered For Oscars

Eight Iranian films are currently being assessed in an attempt to pick Iran’s entry in the category of Best Foreign Language Films at the 80th Annual Academy Awards, taking place February 24, 2008. The selection board is to announce Iran’s nominee by October 2, the Academy’s deadline for entries. The films in the running include: Crossroads, Reward of Silence, Somewhere Too Far, Mainline, It’s Winter, Good Night Commander, M for Mother, and When Everybody Was Asleep.
The front runner is considered to be the film It's Winter, directed by Rafi Pitts and based on a novel by Mahmud Dowlatabadi. The last film to be in the final list of the Academy's nominees was 1999's The Children of Heaven. Source: Mehr News |
