Googoosh is one of Iran's most beloved singer and actress. Her real name is Faegheh Atashin and she was born on February 7, 1951 in Tehran, Iran. She made her mark in Persian music during the 1970s. With the help of legendary composers Varoojan, Hassan Shamaizadeh, and Farid Zoland, Googoosh's songs became instant hits. Young Iranian women everywhere looked up to her Westernized look with the short haircut and stylish fashion.

Some of her classic songs include "Pol", "Gharibeh Ashena", "Hamsafar", and "Kavir". In 2000, Googoosh was allowed to leave Iran to take part in a documentary film called "Googoosh: Iran's Daughter." She took this opportunity to begin a North American tour and startled a sell-out crowd in Toronto with her first ever concert before Iran's revolution.

Googoosh has been married four times and has a son, Kambiz, who is also a singer. She currently lives in L.A. and has released a few albums, which were collaborations with Mehrdad Asemani.
