Dariush Eghbali was born in Tehran on February 4, 1951 and grew up in Karaj and Kurdistan. He was first introduced to the public at the age of 20 on TV by Hassan Khayatbashi. His first song "Be Man Nagoo Dooset Daram" became an instant hit. Many of his songs are based on poems from Shamloo, Rumi, and Hafez, while many other of his songs have been written by Janati Attaie, Shahriar Ghanbari, Sarfaraz, Negahban, and Bayat. He also has collaborated with Fariz Zoland, Ahmad Pejman, Homammad Shams, and Varoujan. Dariush was also an actor as he starred in two Iranian movies "Yaran" and "Faryad Zire Aab".
Dariush has released over 200 songs in 25 albums. Some of his classic songs include "Shaghayegh", "Ejazeh", "Cheshme Man", "Hasoud", "Zendooni", "Saale 2000", and "Dasthaye Tou". He has spent much of his recent time with the Ayeneh Foundation to raise awareness about drugs through educational seminars and conferences.
