Persian Gulf Environmental Art Festival

Last week, a new environmental art festival was held on the coast of Hormoz, in the Persian Gulf, with more than 80 artists gathered to create environmental artwork and sand sculptures. For example, a Hungarian-born artist who is a painter and has lived in Iran during the past forty years, painted on the rocks and created an environmental artwork of stones.

Other artists drew paintings in the local red earth called "gelak." This red earth is used to cook "soragh" which is a traditional food that consists of organic earth, fish and a kind of lemon or sour orange. By raising awareness in the value of this earth, the artists hoped to help out the locals.
