Afshin Ghotbi, Korea Republic’s assistant coach in the recently concluded AFC Asian Cup 2007, has taken over the reins of popular Iran league outfit Persepolis. Ghotbi, 43, has signed a one-year contract with Persepolis who finished third in the league last season. Ghotbi was a former assistant coach to the US national team and Los Angeles Galaxy. He worked for Korea under Dutchman Guus Hiddink in the 2002 FIFA World Cup as a technical analyst and under Dick Advocaat in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany . |
