Ghotbi Named New Persepolis Coach
Afshin Ghotbi, Korea Republic’s assistant coach in the recently concluded AFC Asian Cup 2007, has taken over the reins of popular Iran league outfit Persepolis. Ghotbi, 43, has signed a one-year contract with Persepolis who finished third in the league last season. Ghotbi was a former assistant coach to the US national team and Los Angeles Galaxy. He worked for Korea under Dutchman Guus Hiddink in the 2002 FIFA World Cup as a technical analyst and under Dick Advocaat in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany .
